We celebrated Arbor Day by giving back to the community at the Eaton Rapids Heart and Hands Food Pantry!
The Eaton Conservation District Board of Directors donated 30+ spruce trees and 20 raspberry canes to Heart and Hands Food Pantry for their new location at 8287 E. Spicerville Highway, Eaton Rapids, MI 48827.
On Friday, April 24th, 11 volunteers came together for an afternoon of hands-on service and environmental stewardship, including Board Chair, Mark Sweatman, Executive Director, Rachel Cuschieri-Murray, and Conservation Steward, Mary Dunstone. Despite a rain and thunderstorms, all trees and raspberries were planted.
This event was organized in collaboration with the Hearts and Hands Food Pantry.
At the same time in Charlotte, Boarded Treasurer, Courtney Nicholls and Agriculture Specialist, Natalie Halsey attended the ribbon cutting for the new municipal nursery in Charlotte and then got their hands dirty, helping to pot baby trees.
