Ambrosia Apple
Size: 4-5 ft
Root Stock: EMLA 111
'Ambrosia' is a cultivar of apple originating in British Columbia, Canada in the early 1990s. The Ambrosia apple tree produces a sweet and crisp apple that is similar in taste to Honeycrisps and Pink Lady’s. The apple has a thin skin that is a pink and red mixture over a yellow background. The apples can be stored for 4 months, and do not brown quickly after being cut open. These medium-sized apples are great for snacks, salads, and baking.
The Ambrosia tree is very hardy, grows upright, and produces fruit annually. They will usually grow up to 12 feet tall. For pollination, they need to be planted near other apple trees to ensure proper pollination for better growing fruit. Try to plant trees at least 20 feet apart. This tree will begin to produce apples at 2-3 years old.
*A mature height of less than 15 feet is recommended for trees planted near power lines. Tall growing trees should be planted a minimum of 20 feet away from power lines, and 50 feet away to avoid future pruning.
*This plant will be packaged as "bare root". Bare root plants have no soil around their roots. Bare root trees, shrubs, and perennials must be planted as soon as possible before growth begins. Find care and planting instructions here: https://www.arborday.org/trees/planting/bare-root.cfm
