Hosui Pear
Size: 4-5 ft
Root Stock: Betulaefolia
Try something new! The Asian Hosui pear tree produces an extremely crisp, sugary-sweet, and juicy fruit. They are a medium to large sized pear that are a golden-brown color. This tree begins bearing fruit in 4-6 years and will ripen in late August. These pears are best for eating fresh but can also be used to bake.
When planting the Asian Hosui tree, plant in a location with full sun and in a loamy, well-drained soil. For the best chances of cross-pollination, plant near other pear trees. The Hosui tree requires thinning to attain maximum fruit size. They can reach heights of 12-16 feet.
*A mature height of less than 15 feet is recommended for trees planted near power lines. Tall growing trees should be planted a minimum of 20 feet away from power lines, and 50 feet away to avoid future pruning.
*This plant will be packaged as "bare root". Bare root plants have no soil around their roots. Bare root trees, shrubs, and perennials must be planted as soon as possible before growth begins. Find care and planting instructions here: https://www.arborday.org/trees/planting/bare-root.cfm
