Rhubarb - Victoria
Victoria Rhubarb (Rheum rhabarbarum ‘Victoria’)
Victoria Rhubarb is an heirloom, heavy-producing perennial known for its thick, tender stalks and bright red color. The tart, flavorful stems are excellent for pies, sauces, and baking. With large leaves and vigorous growth, this dependable variety provides years of generous harvests with minimal pest issues.
Requirements:
Light: Full sun to part sun
Soil: Normal to sandy, well-drained soil
Key Features:
Mature Size: 2 to 3 feet tall × 3 to 4 feet wide
Bloom Period: Spring and summer
Wildlife Value: Attracts bees and butterflies
Plant Care:
Plant crowns in spring or fall, spacing plants 3 to 4 feet apart. Begin harvesting lightly the second year, then increase harvest time in following seasons. Pull stalks gently from the crown rather than cutting to encourage continued production. With proper spacing and care, Victoria Rhubarb will reward gardeners with abundant harvests year after year.
