White Spruce Seedlings
Size: 9-15"
White Spruce (Picea glauca)
The White Spruce is a hardy, pyramidal evergreen native to northern North America. Its dense, pale green needles and naturally uniform shape make it a reliable choice for windbreaks, screening, or as a long-lived specimen tree. Its needles have a sharp, clean spruce scent.. Known for its durability, this spruce tolerates cold climates, clay soils, and urban conditions better than many other evergreens.
Requirements:
Light: Full sun to partial shade
Soil: Moist, well-drained
Key Features
Growth Rate: Slow to moderate
Mature Size: 40–60 feet tall × 10–20 feet wide (do not plant under power lines)
Wildlife Value: Excellent nesting cover; seeds feed birds (crossbills, grosbeaks, nuthatches); and small mammals like deer and rabbits
Plant Care:
Plant in full sun for best density and color. Mulch to protect the shallow root system and retain moisture. Avoid chronically wet soils. For tall trees like this, plant at least 20 feet from overhead lines (50 feet for long-term clearance).
*A mature height of less than 15 feet is recommended for trees planted near power lines. Tall growing trees should be planted a minimum of 20 feet away from power lines, and 50 feet away to avoid future pruning.
*This plant will be packaged as "bare root". Bare root plants have no soil around their roots. Bare root trees, shrubs, and perennials must be planted as soon as possible before growth begins. Find care and planting instructions here: https://www.arborday.org/trees/planting/bare-root.cfm
Item only available in bundles
