Wolf River Apple

from $29.00

Size: 4-5 ft
Root Stock: EMLA 111

Another heirloom variety, Wolf River apple tree is known, and named, for the very large fruit it produces early in the season. The apples of a Wolf River tree are known to reach up to 1 pound per apple which are great for baking into pies, eating fresh, or turning into sauce or apple butter. The apples produced are a light red with a yellow background.

The tree is very winter hardy. The height of the tree can be anywhere between 12 to 16 feet. For larger, and high-quality fruit, plant in a location with more sunlight and with 12-15 gallons of water every week from May to September. Plant each tree 15-20 feet apart in slightly acidic soil. The Wolf River tree requires cross-pollination, using almost any type of apple tree.

*A mature height of less than 15 feet is recommended for trees planted near power lines. Tall growing trees should be planted a minimum of 20 feet away from power lines, and 50 feet away to avoid future pruning.

*This plant will be packaged as "bare root". Bare root plants have no soil around their roots. Bare root trees, shrubs, and perennials must be planted as soon as possible before growth begins. Find care and planting instructions here:  https://www.arborday.org/trees/planting/bare-root.cfm
